Ranger Preparing Site for Super-Sized Distribution Center

(3rd Quarter 2003)

Wal-Mart didn’t get to be the world’s largest retailer by thinking small, as their Supercenters show. But even larger are their distribution centers, which warehouse products for delivery to Wal-Marts throughout the region.

Ranger Construction Industrries’ Central Division is providing site development services for Wal-Mart’s 1.2 million sq.ft. distribution center being built in Fort Pierce, Florida.

The 172-acre project involves more than one million cubic yards of excavation and grading, along with 40,000 tons of asphalt paving. It was started in September and is scheduled for completion next summer.

In Palm Beach County, Ranger has been awarded the contract to widen more than five miles of SR-7, a major thoroughfare for the county’s western communities.

Ranger’s portion, under a subcontract with Transeastern Homes, extends from Belvedere Road south past Lake Worth Road. The project involves building a fourth lane in each direction, adding new shoulders, and performing drainage work.

Among other new work, Ranger was awarded Palm Beach County’s $4.7 million annual resurfacing contract. Ranger also received a $5.8 million contract for runway/ taxiway improvements at Palm Beach International Airport.

Ranger Shops Committed To Environmentally Safe Practices

Ranger’s mechanic, machine and welding shops keep the company’s heavy equipment, trucks and vehicles in good working condition. They also take care of waste materials, such as used oil, brake cleaner or other fluids, carefully handling them in compliance with governmental and environmental standards.

Taking it one step further, Ranger’s shop managers proactively select products that minimize the need for special handling and disposal requirements.

It’s just one more way Ranger is showing its commitment to environmentally responsible construction.
