Neighborly Asphalt Plants Produce 'Diamonds' For Ranger

Award-Winning Plants, Community Involvement
Are All Part Of Being A Good Neighbor

Being a good neighbor in the asphalt business means more than just complying with the rules and regulations of the industry — although that’s a major part of it, to be sure.

There’s also maintaining a neat appearance with attractive landscaping and well-kept shops and yards. And it’s vital to emphasize safety, as well as sound environmental practices throughout each plant.

For operating its asphalt plants in an “exemplary manner,” Ranger Construction has been honored by the National Asphalt Pavement Association with four “Diamond Awards” — NAPA’s prestigious Diamond Achievement Commendation for Excellence in Hot Mix Asphalt Plant/Site Operations.

Each of the four plants entered for consideration received a Diamond Award: Ranger Construction Industries’ Winter Garden, Fort Pierce and West Palm Beach plants; and Ranger Construction — South’s Pompano Beach plant.

“Earning the Diamond Achievement Commendation serves as a signal to neighbors that the facility is a good neighbor,” noted NAPA Chairman Peter A. Wilson.

Ranger’s Jo Moore monitors environmental compliance at the plants. She also oversaw the application process, which included photo/video documentation, community verification, and evaluation by an independent assessment firm.

“Our employees are to be congratulated for this outstanding achievement,” said Leo Vecellio, Jr., CEO of the Vecellio Group.

“The Diamond Awards validate the success of the many quality, safety and environmental initiatives we have in place at our facilities.”

Community Involvement Goes Beyond Attractive Facilities, Scholarships
A word from Leo A. Vecellio, Jr., President, Chairman and CEO, The Vecellio Group

As a family-owned business, the Vecellio Group cares deeply about the communities in which we live and work. That’s why we’re so proud of our “Diamond” rated facilities. Our highly skilled and dedicated personnel are to be commended for this superlative achievement, which demonstrates our commitment to high quality results throughout our operations.

But maintaining attractive, environmentally responsible facilities is only part of giving back to the community. We also participate through the Vecellio Family Foundation’s college scholarship programs — which celebrated 31 years in 2003 — our major university endowments supporting the contracting industry, and numerous other sponsorships of civic, charitable and educational organizations within the communities we serve.

All these are very worthwhile and we are grateful to be in a position to impact our communities in such a positive way. Beyond all of this, though, there is our commitment to being a great place to work for our employees. Our employees, after all, make everything else possible by their integral role in our success.

Our employees are also an integral part of the communities we serve, maintaining homes and families, attending schools, going shopping, and participating in a range of social, sporting and religious activities.

As we invest in our employees — providing rewarding jobs on an equal opportunity basis, with competitive pay, generous benefits and ample advancement opportunity — we also contribute to the success of the community.

In this VanGuard issue, we salute our valued employees, recognizing the hard work that makes it all possible. I’ve always said, “construction is a people business” and we’re proud to have what I consider to be the best people in the business.

Congratulations to our service award recipients, and thank you to all of our employees with five or more years of service, as well as those who have joined us more recently. We hope you will be a part of our “family” for many more years to come.
