DOT Jobs Make Up Bulk Of Ranger Work

Ranger Central performed asphalt overlay and intersection improvements to US-1 in Palm Beach County, FL.

   

Florida’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Ranger Construction a $7.8 million contract to mill and resurface SR-802 (Lake Worth Rd.) in Lake Worth, FL. The contract covers more than three miles of six-lane roadway.

Ranger also has received a contract worth $3.1 million to pave selected roadways in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties.

In other DOT work, Ranger is widening, milling and resurfacing a portion of SR-A1A in north Palm Beach County.

In the private sector, Ranger is developing the site for a new Super Target in Wellington under a subcontract with the Williams Company. The project includes a significant amount of underground drainage work, which Ranger crews will perform.

In the Grant area, Ranger has kept busy with paving projects at the Space Coast Regional Airport, a new Publix shopping center, a new Home Depot, and at other commercial locations.

Ranger crews in the North Division are keeping busy on several large DOT projects in the Orlando area, including new construction on SR-429, widening and resurfacing on I-4, and widening two sections of SR-520, among other work.

Vecellio Group Moves Up In ENR Rankings

Vecellio Group, Inc., parent company of Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., has moved up 27 spots in Engineering News-Record’s annual ranking of the country’s largest contractors by revenue, jumping from 153rd to 126th on the latest list.

The group enjoyed its best results ever in 2004, with solid revenues on
all fronts and expanded operations at several divisions. The group also started two new operations: VG Asphalt in Greensboro, NC, and South Florida Materials’ asphalt terminal at the Port of Palm Beach.

Among transportation contractors, Vecellio Group is now 18th largest in the nation, according to ENR.
