Being a good neighbor in the asphalt business
means more than just complying with the rules and regulations of
the industry.
There’s also maintaining a neat appearance with attractive
landscaping and well-kept shops and yards, as well as emphasizing
safety and sound environmental practices throughout each plant.
Only operations meeting all these “good neighbor” guidelines are
recognized as “Green Diamond” facilities by the National Asphalt
Pavement Association (NAPA), the industry’s leading trade
organization.
Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., and Ranger Construction --
South, both units of West Palm Beach-based contractor Vecellio
Group, Inc., had five Florida plants honored with Green Diamond
Awards for operating in an “exemplary manner” in 2006.
The prestigious award, officially called the Diamond Achievement
Commendation for Excellence in Hot Mix Asphalt Plant/Site
Operations, was bestowed upon Ranger’s Winter Garden, Fort Pierce
and West Palm Beach plants, as well as Ranger South’s facilities
in Pompano Beach and Miami.
“Earning the Diamond Achievement Commendation serves as a signal
to the community that the facility is a good neighbor,” noted NAPA
Chairman Jim Roberts.
Two other Vecellio Group asphalt plants, operated by subsidiary
Sharpe Bros. in Greensboro, North Carolina, also received Green
Diamonds.
“These awards are the result of numerous quality, safety and
environmental initiatives we have in place at our facilities,”
said Leo Vecellio, Jr., CEO of the Vecellio Group. “We are very
proud of our asphalt operations for earning this recognition.
