Roadway and bridge construction is
also underway, with some of the new structures starting to take
shape. The project team has been able to stay ahead of
production deadlines by working with excellent subcontractors
and making good use of resources and available crews.
The division has also secured a $2.9 million contract as the
paving subcontractor for a separate portion of the SR-414
project. Ranger North will pave the westernmost section of the
three-part project, which ties into the west end of Ranger’s
existing project and continues to SR-429. The paving work will
be performed for Johnson Brothers Construction.
In Lake County, the division has secured a $4.84 million
contract with the FDOT to mill and resurface nearly 14 miles of
SR-33. The work will extend north from the Polk County line to
just south of SR-50. In addition to milling and resurfacing the
two-lane highway, Ranger will install guard rails, rework the
shoulders, and perform some minor pipe work. In total, the
project will require almost 38,000 tons of asphalt.
In Orange County, Ranger North has secured a $13.3 million
contract to mill and pave 5.5 miles of Florida’s Turnpike
(SR-91) as a subcontractor to Granite Construction. The overall
project will include widening the turnpike from four to six
lanes from I-4 to just north of Gotha Road, requiring 114,530
tons of asphalt.
Also in Orange County, Ranger North has been awarded a $1.6
million contract with Prince Contracting to mill and widen 2.5
miles of CR-535. The roadway widening is to accommodate
increased traffic associated with a new KB Homes development
near Winter Garden.
The division has also started a $2.2 million FDOT project to
mill and resurface two miles of SR-434 in Maitland under a
subcontract with Lane Construction. The project is scheduled for
completion in July 2009.
Other new work includes a contract with Hewitt Contracting to
mill and resurface one mile of roadway through the Orange County
Landfill in a project that starts next summer.
