Ranger Construction’s parent company, the Vecellio Group, Inc., has been named a 10-time winner in The Communicator Awards 2004 Print Media Competition.
The Group earned two Crystal Awards of Excellence, six Awards of Distinction and two Honorable Mentions for its VanGuard newsmagazines, company brochures, public/media relations, advertising and employee communications.
Communications Director Carl Thiemann wrote and designed the award-winning entries, bringing to 17 the number of Communicator Awards the Group has earned in the past five years.
The full-color VanGuard received a Crystal Award of Excellence, the competition’s highest honor, in the marketing/promotional campaign category. The quarterly, 12- to 24-page magazine also received Awards of Distinction for writing, design, and as an employee publication.
Created in-house, Vanguard features news, photos and features on Ranger Construction and the group’s other operations, and is distributed to employees, customers, prospects, industry associates and government contacts.
A second Crystal Award of Excellence was earned for the group’s corporate brochure, which also received an Award of Distinction for design and an Honorable Mention for photography.
Written and designed in-house, the full-color, eight-page pocket brochure features three distinct versions to showcase each of the group’s heavy/highway units — Ranger Construction; Ranger Construction — South, based in Pompano Beach, Florida; and Vecellio & Grogan, based in Beckley, West Virginia.
Two Awards of Distinction were also received for advertising and public/media relations, followed by an Honorable Mention for internal communications design.
The group’s entire operations were represented in the 10 awards. In addition to its heavy/highway units, the Vecellio Group includes White Rock Quarries in Miami, Florida, one of the nation’s largest single-site quarries; and Ranger Golf, a leading course construction and renovation contractor that has worked with the PGA Tour and other high-profile owners and designers across the U.S.
The Communicator Awards is an internationally recognized awards organization honoring outstanding work in the communications field. The 2004 competition drew more than 3,700 entries from across the United States and abroad.
Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for “companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.”
The privately owned Vecellio Group, Inc., founded in 1938, is among the nation’s top 200 contractors — top 30 in heavy/highway construction — as ranked by Engineering News-Record.
